Digital Fashion Innovation

Parsons School of Design, The New School

Digital Fashion Innovation is a collaboration between Parsons School of Design at The New School and The Digital Fashion Group Academy. This specialization is designed for fashion professionals who are embracing the Digital Transformation of society and digitalization in fashion and want to play a part in it. Throughout three courses, participants will creatively explore how technology can address industry-wide challenges in fashion and actively engage in creating a more ethical fashion future.

  • Develop a Digital Fashion Mindset Vision Statement
  • Create a Digital Fashion Mission Statement and set achievable goals
  • Craft a Digital Fashion Reality Manifesto

This specialization is suitable for individuals with at least 2 years of experience in the fashion industry, focusing on design, buying, production, marketing, or education. Through this program, students will gain insights into digitalization, sustainable practices, key players in the digital fashion industry, and the integration of digital developments with physical systems.

This specialization includes three modules, focusing on developing a digital fashion mindset, understanding the digital fashion industry, and embracing digital fashion reality.

Digital Fashion Mindset

Module 1: Digital Fashion Mindset

  • Summarize the current state of digitalization and Digital Transformation in the fashion industry
  • Develop your own approach to digitalization to maximize new personal and/or business opportunities
  • Examine digitization and its sustainable practices in production and throughout the supply chain

Digital Fashion Industry

Module 2: Digital Fashion Industry

  • Understand the key players involved in digitization and digitalization in the fashion industry
  • Define the key digital software available and their potential for personal and/or business use
  • Study blockchain's development and its relationship with fashion retail, NFTs, and fashion e-commerce

Digital Fashion Reality

Module 3: Digital Fashion Reality

  • Describe the phygitalization of fashion and its connection with established physical systems
  • Outline the development and implementation of avatars for use in fashion
  • Relate avatars to the rise of the Metahuman and their application to design, production, and sales development for the Metaverse
