Microstructure and phase transformation in steels I: Fundamentals

Ferrous Technology II starts with an exploration of the fundamentals of microstructure and phase transformation in steels, including the iron-carbon system and phase transformation. Participants will gain insights into the non-equilibrium microstructure in steel and the role of alloying elements.

Microstructure and phase transformation in steels II: Non-equilibirum microstructure in steel

Participants will delve into the non-equilibrium microstructure in steel, including displacive transformation and the phenomenological theory of martensite transformation. Other characteristics and the role of alloying elements will also be discussed in detail.

Microstructure and phase transformation in steels III: Role of alloying elements in steels

This module focuses on the role of alloying elements in steels, including materials design and the general role of alloying elements. Participants will gain a deep understanding of how alloying elements impact the properties and applications of steels.

Properties of steels and their applications I

Explore the effect of heat treatment paths on the microstructure of steels, including conventional low strength steels and micro-alloyed ferrite-base steels. This module provides insights into the properties and applications of different types of steels.

Properties of steels and their applications II

Gain a comprehensive understanding of the properties and applications of various types of steels, including acicular ferrite, micro-alloyed medium & high C steels, multiphase steels, and martensitic steels. The effect of heat treatment paths on martensite/bainite will also be discussed.

Properties of steels and their applications III

This module covers twinning-induced plasticity steels, lightweight steels, and property requirements for automotive and linepipe applications, providing a comprehensive overview of the diverse applications of steels.
