Course Modules

The Data Warehousing for Business Intelligence specialization consists of five courses that cover database management essentials, data warehouse concepts, design, and data integration, relational database support for data warehouses, business intelligence concepts, tools, and applications, and the capstone course focusing on designing and building a data warehouse for business intelligence implementation.

Database Management Essentials

Database Management Essentials provides the foundation for a career in database development, data warehousing, or business intelligence, as well as for the entire Data Warehousing for Business Intelligence specialization. You will create relational databases, write SQL statements, create entity relationship diagrams (ERDs), and use Oracle, MySQL, or PostgreSQL for executing SQL statements and ER diagramming. This course ensures a common foundation for specialization learners.

Data Warehouse Concepts, Design, and Data Integration

Data Warehouse Concepts, Design, and Data Integration course teaches exciting concepts and skills for designing data warehouses and creating data integration workflows. You will gain hands-on experience using open source products for manipulating pivot tables and creating data integration workflows, and you will have the design experience, software background, and organizational context to succeed with data warehouse development projects.

Relational Database Support for Data Warehouses

Relational Database Support for Data Warehouses explores analytical elements of SQL for answering business intelligence questions and features of relational database management systems for managing summary data. The course delves into storage architectures, scalable parallel processing, data governance, and big data impacts.

Business Intelligence Concepts, Tools, and Applications

Business Intelligence Concepts, Tools, and Applications course provides an overview of how business intelligence technologies can support decision making across various business sectors. It covers business intelligence concepts, tools, applications, data warehouse usage, and visual analytics for business reporting and online analytical processing.

Design and Build a Data Warehouse for Business Intelligence Implementation

Design and Build a Data Warehouse for Business Intelligence Implementation is the capstone course featuring a real-world case study that integrates learning across all courses in the specialization. You’ll design and build a small data warehouse, create data integration workflows, write SQL statements, and use the MicroStrategy business intelligence platform to create dashboards and visualizations.
