Course Modules

The course modules cover understanding financial markets, meeting investors' goals, portfolio and risk management, securing investment returns in the long run, and planning client's wealth over a 5-year horizon.

Understanding Financial Markets

In the first module, you will gain insights into the main financial markets and their characteristics, and how they are linked to the economy. You will also learn about the computation of stock and bond prices, the notion of risk, and how to build efficient portfolios. Additionally, you will understand the impact of central bank policies on financial markets and the link between the economy and financial assets.

Meeting Investors' Goals

The second module delves into the concepts of rationality and irrationality and their influence on investment decisions. You will explore biases affecting investment decisions, emotions and ethical concerns, and different portfolio construction methodologies. The course will also cover practical knowledge from industry experts on building and managing clients' portfolios.

Portfolio and Risk Management

This module provides an understanding of the theory underlying optimal portfolio construction, different ways portfolios are built in practice, and how to measure and manage portfolio risk. You will also learn about shaping an investor's profile, strategic and tactical asset allocations, and different facets of risk along with appropriate tools and techniques to manage it.

Securing Investment Returns in the Long Run

Module four covers the dichotomy between active and passive investing, methods to measure and analyze investment performance, and future trends in the investment management industry. You will also explore sustainable finance, neurofinance, fintech, and practical implementation insights from industry experts.

Planning your Client's Wealth over a 5-year Horizon

The final Capstone project requires you to design an appropriate wealth plan for characters with unique financial constraints and objectives over a 5-year horizon. You will apply the knowledge gained in preceding courses to devise a wealth strategy based on economic outlook, emotional biases, risk management, and future trends in the investment management industry.
