Welcome to Course One of Photography Basics and Beyond: From Smartphone to DSLR! This module provides an introduction to the qualities of different digital cameras, emphasizing frame and vantage point to interpret subjects in new ways. You will also explore useful accessories and begin making your first photographs, setting the stage for the rest of the course.
Course Two delves into greater camera control, focusing on exposure modes, light metering, ISO settings, lens options, shutter speeds, and depth of field principles. As you continue to make new photographs, you will gain a deeper understanding of camera functions and enhance your skills in photography.
Modules 3 & 4 provide a professional-level understanding of design elements for successful compositions, as well as essential post-photography image management using Adobe(tm) LIGHTROOM(tm) and software for Smartphone photographers. You'll gain valuable insights applicable to various types of photography equipment.
In Course Four, you will explore content in photography, principles and techniques for using light, and methods for finalizing your pictures in print form and web page designs. The course culminates in preparations for the Capstone, where you will create a project over a 2-month period of dedicated photography.
The Capstone Project is an opportunity to develop a meaningful project of 10 well-formed photographs based on your artistic expression or chosen subject. Throughout this course, you will support and learn from fellow learners, sharing comments, suggestions, and work-in-progress, as you work independently on your project.
